The origins of Christian Community in Thalamukil can be traced to the migration of Christians from Kollam from the ninth to the seventeenth century. Temporary Chapels were put up in the beginning. Pastoral care was undertaken by priests from Kallada in the beginning. Thereafter it was part of Kovilthottam Parish. In 1881, Bishop Rt. Rev. Ildephonse Borgna, laid the foundation for a Church which was duly completed in 1886 when Bishop Ferdinand Ossi made Thalamukil a separate parish. An elegant Church was built in 1957. This Church has since been demolished and a new Church was blessed on January 29, 2020. A Lower Primary School was established here in 1886. Bethany Sisters of the Little Flower have a convent here.
