This Church is the continuation of the ancient Church in Pandarathuthu which in Portuguese records was known as Marta. People had to relocate themselves at different points of time due to continuous sea erosion. In 1940, a Church was erected here for the relocated people. The present Church was blessed on October 13, 1968. The Church saw renovation in 2010. Msgr. Joseph G Fernandez, the 12th Bishop of Quilon, hails from this parish. A convent of the Cannossian Daughters of Charity Servants of the Poor has a convent here and they have established an English medium High School for the educational advancement of the people.
