Liurgical Timing
Situated in upper Kuttanad, Holy Family Church is the centre of the Latin Catholics of Viapuram Panchayat who live on the banks of rivers – Achankovil, Pampa and Paippad. This was a mission founded by Bishop Benziger. The first chapel was in Paippad and part of Pavukara Parish. In 1945 for the convenience of the people the chapel was shifted to Karichal. It was erected a parish in 1953. The present church was completed in 1976. For a long time the parish was served by the Vicar of Valiaperumpuzha. Fr. Christy Daniel was the first independent vicar.
