Christianity arrived in this beautiful island almost in the heart of Ashtamudi Lake with the migration from the main- land. As it was found difficult for the faithful especially the children and the elderly to cross the lake to Arinallore during an inclement weather, a shed was erected for worship in 1959. The Church built in 1968 was destroyed in 1974 by a lightning strike. The present Church was blessed on August 1, 2007.
